PANDA BEARS

Bai Yun-A female giant panda, was born at the Wolong Giant Panda Conservation Centre in central China on September 7, 1991. She was raised by her mother Dong Dong. Her father is most likely Pan Pan, although Wolong scientists aren't sure if Dong Dong's pregnancy was a result of natural breeding of insemination. Bai Yun means "white cloud" in Chinese.

Shi Shi- A male giant panda was born 22 years ago in the wild in China's Sichuan Province. In March 1992 in theQuionlai Mountains he was wounded with slashes on his back, face and limbs, probably from a fight with another male panda. A Chinese village found Shi Shi and he was resuced by the Forestry Bureau of Wechuan County. He was transfered to the Wolong Giand Panda Conservation Centre where Chinese veterinarians and a Wolrd Wildlif Fund veterinarain helped save his life. He required several months of care for his wounds to heal and because of the seriousness of the injuries was not able to be returned to the wild. His name is Chinese means "rock".

Hua Mei- A baby panda bear born January 8, 2000. Her mother is Bai Yun.This baby panda loves to play. She loves getting drity by rolling around in the dirt all of the time. Her name is Chinese means "Thunder".
